First Church of Livingston

Son Seekers

The children’s ministry of First Church is for ages birth through eighth grade.

The mission of the children’s ministry team is to partner with parents to lead every child that comes through our doors to be a Son-Seeker:

Seeking Salvation (Savior)
Seeking Relationship (Friend)
Seeking to Serve (Lord)

We gather a few times per week in age-specific environments for the purpose of worship, discipleship, and accountability. Please check the Service Times page.

Curriculum & Parenting Resources

Most of our curriculum comes from The reThink Group, a great resource for Bible-based curriculum. They also have resources for parents to aid in discipling our children. You can find their resources at the Orange Parents blog feed here.

We value teaching the Bible with creativity.

This is accomplished when those who are gifted to teach are trained, connected with other teachers, and willing to constantly improve what they are doing in their area of service.  The lessons we teach must be creative and relevant to the age-group it is presented to.

We value energizing environments.

This is accomplished when our classrooms and ministry areas are fun and engaging.  This is not the goal of the process, but the tool that lets our children know that Christian life is fun and that we place a high value on the effort of ministering to children!  Our children’s ministry areas must be safe places where children and parents know they are physically, emotionally, and spiritually safe.

We value relationships.

The most important relationship is one with Jesus Christ, both for salvation and a daily, Spirt-filled walk with Him.  We create small groups in which children can feel unconditionally loved and valued; a place where they are willing to share their deepest concerns.  These relationships are the place where children learn to apply the Bible truths they are learning to a daily walk with Christ.  We value the relationship between the church and the family.  We believe it takes both entities to truly effect change in the spiritual life of a child.
